Atkinson, David Russell
1864 - 1937
David was the husband of May Miller. He homesteaded in the Sacramento Mtns near Cloudcroft after coming from Star, Texas in 1900. There is a canyon there named for the family as Atkinson Canyon.
They made the trip in three wagons and brought along his mother in law who made the trip laying in a wagon, to ill to travel conventionally. He eventually homesteaded in XT Canyon in the Peloncillos
where he and May raised their children.
