Grace was born on the Sanford ranch in the Arizona Territory to Benjamin Franklin and Nancy English Sanford.

She married James Allen Cox and together, they had four children; Jim Frank, Nancy, Elvira, and Allen. Was quite a good story teller and since she had a fantastic memory, she could tell wonderful family stories.
