Brennan, William T
July 6, 1917 - July 30, 1993
William “Bill” Brennan was born in Cambridge, MA to John Brennan and Julia Spence.

He and Olive “Joy” Brennan settled in the Rodeo Valley about 1978 when they bought 80 acres on the Arizona side of the state line about 4 miles south of Rodeo. They originated in Massachusetts and before moving to the southwest, they had made several trips to the Phoenix/Tucson area to enjoy the winter sun. The Brennans were the parents of two sons, Spence and Mark.

They moved from Massachusetts where they had owned a riding stable, tack shop, and western wear store. Joy was an accomplished horsewoman, and taught riding lessons as well as operating their shop, while Bill worked in the heavy equipment business. They decided to move west and enjoy the sunshine and the slower paced life-style.

Bill Brennan was known to his friends as the “Eastern Cowboy”. He took great delight in dressing up in his western duds, complete with leather chaps, holster and six-gun, boots and a white Stetson. He would try to cover up his eastern accent with a southern drawl which added to his charm.

Joy was killed in a car wreck in the Silver Creek area in 1982 and Bill became a changed man after Joy’s death. His health began to decline, and although he made a valiant attempt at building a new life without Joy, he was never the same. After suffering through one health problem after another, Bill died of cancer in 1993 at the V.A. Hospital in Tucson.
